An applicable song lyric:
"You're playing so cool, obeying every rule. Dig way down in your heart you're yearning, yearning for some somebody to tell you that life ain't passing you by. I'm trying to tell you, it will if you don't even try. You can fly if you'd only cut loose, footloose. Kick off your Sunday shoes."
Something making me happy:
That rock and roll music isn't against my religion. ;)
Something I've learned today:
There is no doctrine banning men of another color from obtaining the priesthood. So why then did it take till 1978 to allow it? I guess only God knows.
Something I need to be more thankful for:
My neighbors.
My 11:11 wish:
I wish I could dance like those guys on Footloose.
Somewhere I want to be:
The 1950's. The time when a school dance meant swing dancing galore.
Something I'd miss if the Earth were destroyed:
Intellectual conversations.
Highlight of the day:
Conversing with my next door neighbor around his fire pit outside.
Some thoughts:
Well today I studied the driver's handbook with some friends. Maybe I'll actually take the test one of these days. ;) Then on the way back from dropping off some borrowed books I saw my LDS neighbor outside trying to get a fire going with wet wood he bought. So I fetched some of our dry firewood and got talking with him about far ranging subjects from PTSD to Aspergers to homosexuality, to why black people didn't get the priesthood until 1978. I almost forgot how interesting conversations can be with an adult who has a degree in psychology. ;)
Book: "How much alcohol can you drink before you can't drive?"
Me: I don't CARE! I'm MORMON! *headdesk*
